Is Pinterest a FAD?

Pinterest is the fastest growing social media site of all time. Yes, even faster then Facebook. Woman flocked to this website like a pair of gucci shoes at 75% off. Because of the enormous growth, marketers have been running towards this site to figure out how to utilize it.

What I think is great about Pinterest is you can't technically broadcast a message like competitors Twitter, Facebook and Google+. With other social media sites, you have the ability to post a status and link to your sites. With Pinterest, it's strictly emotion driven. Everything is done through a picture and you only have a few seconds to grab the user's attention. This creates a community where "mostly woman" feel like they are hanging with friends and letting them know what's cool whether it's crafts, photography, baking or anything else creative.

What's great about the simplicity of this emotional driven website is the others are figuring out that people love it. This week, Facebook released PinView which turns your Facebook into a Pinterest timeline. While other companies figure out what to do with this growing website, woman and some men are enjoying repinning, posting and getting creative with their walls.

This is not a FAD, its a new way of creating community among our friends and family in a very creative way.
