Zappos CEO
Tony Hsieh has set his sights on making Las Vegas a bigger and better place to
live and play. He has invested over $350 Million of his own money into making
Las Vegas a better place for all. The Zappos CEO started by moving Zappos to
downtown which cost over $40 Million dollars after Amazon said they were
running out of room to host them. Amazon purchased Zappos in 2009 for 1.2
Billion dollars. Hsieh’s investment has come in a foundation that plans to
invest in all areas of Vegas including $200 Million in residential and condo
real estate, $50 Million in tech startups, $50 Million in small businesses, $50
Million in arts, education and entertainment. Hsieh has already invested in 9
tech startups but plans to invest in 150 to 200 companies with the initial
investment.
