The Open-Source Wave

Another exciting experience for me at this year’s CMB Momentum was the discussion of open-source content management systems or frameworks vs proprietary content management systems. There were also discussions regarding the differences between the three leaders on open-source CMS’ like Joomla, Drupal and Wordpress. But was most encouraging was the stations that understood the importance of open-source and it’s ability to save you money in the long run, options for expandability and security. Although, CCM is still behind in the digital realm, I believe the conversations are happening and I am excited about 2013 for many stations looking to innovate their digital presence.
